Privacy Policy

PROTOHYPE GAMES Ltd., based in British Columbia, Canada ("we", "us", or "our") is responsible for the personal information we handle in connection with our website, Candy Crawlers, and communications with us. This policy explains what information is involved, why we use it, who receives it, and how to contact us about your privacy.

Stores and online platforms also handle information under their own policies. This policy covers our activities; it does not replace the privacy policies of Steam, Epic Games, or other services you choose to use.

1. Information we handle

  • Platform and multiplayer information. When you use online features, the game and its service providers process platform account or player identifiers, display names, authentication credentials issued by the platform, and lobby, session, connection, and gameplay information needed to let players connect and play together. Your platform password is handled by the platform, rather than requested by PROTOHYPE GAMES.
  • Game progress and settings. The game uses saved progress, costume unlocks, preferences, and settings to provide its features. Information saved on your device is not automatically information sent to us.
  • Support and correspondence. If you email us or send feedback or a bug report, we receive your email address, the contents of your message, and attachments you choose to provide. Diagnostic files you send may contain player identifiers, device and software details, timestamps, and game or network activity. Please avoid including passwords or unrelated personal information.
  • Website connection information. Our hosting and security providers process technical request information, such as IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, and request times, to deliver and protect the website.

2. How we use information

We use information to provide the website and game; authenticate players; enable multiplayer and cross-platform connections; maintain progress and settings; respond to support and privacy requests; investigate bugs and connection problems; protect services against misuse; and meet applicable legal obligations.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on providing the service you request, our legitimate interests in operating and securing our services, compliance with legal obligations, or your consent when required. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw that consent; this does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

3. Steam & Epic services

Candy Crawlers uses platform services, including Steam and Epic Online Services, for supported account and multiplayer features. Depending on your platform and the features you use, those services process account identifiers, display names, authentication and connection information, and session or lobby membership. Platform permissions and account-linking screens describe any additional access you choose to authorize.

Epic Account Data made available to us is used to authenticate players and provide supported social and multiplayer connections, in accordance with the permissions granted and Epic’s applicable service terms. We do not use Epic Account Data for advertising or sell that data.

Other players may see your display name, public platform profile information made available in-game, lobby membership, and gameplay activity. Multiplayer connections also involve network information processed by the host, platform, or relay service as needed to establish the connection.

Stores handle purchases and payment details under their own terms. Please consult the Steam Privacy Policy and Epic Games Privacy Policy for their practices and account controls.

4. When information is shared

Information is shared with platform, networking, hosting, security, and communications providers as needed to provide the relevant service, and with other players as described above. We may also disclose information when required by law or reasonably necessary to address fraud, security incidents, or protect legal rights. If our business is transferred, relevant information may be transferred with it, subject to applicable privacy requirements.

Service providers may process information outside your province, state, or country, where privacy laws and access by public authorities may differ. Where required, appropriate protections apply to international transfers. Contact us for information about the providers and safeguards relevant to your request.

5. Website & cookies

The current PROTOHYPE GAMES website does not include advertising trackers or marketing analytics scripts. Hosting, authentication, and security services may use cookies or similar technologies where necessary to deliver and secure the site. Your browser lets you manage or delete cookies; blocking necessary cookies may affect some features.

Links to Steam, Epic Games, and other external sites take you to services with their own privacy practices. Merely displaying our locally hosted game artwork does not embed a store’s player or tracking widget.

6. Retention & security

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, including responding to your request, maintaining services, resolving disputes, and meeting legal obligations. Retention depends on the type of information and why it is held; platform providers apply their own retention periods. Local saves remain on your device or in platform-managed storage until removed through the relevant controls.

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the information involved. No transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer needed, subject to necessary legal retention and backup cycles.

7. Your choices & rights

You can choose whether to use online features, manage platform permissions and account links in your Steam or Epic account, and decide what to include in support messages. Some online features cannot work without the information needed to connect players.

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information; restrict or object to certain processing; withdraw consent; and complain to the relevant privacy or data protection authority. Contact us to exercise your rights. We may need to verify your identity using information proportionate to the request, and will respond within applicable legal time limits.

Requests about information controlled by Steam or Epic Games should also be directed to that platform. Deleting a local save or uninstalling the game does not automatically delete platform-held information.

8. Children’s privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the age at which parental consent is required by applicable law without the required consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without appropriate consent, please contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action, including deletion where required. Platform age restrictions and parental controls also apply.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services or practices change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice or seek consent when required for material changes.
